چکیده

Conjoint analysis is a research technique for measuring consumer preferences, and it is a method for simulating consumers’ possible reactions to changes in current products or newly introduced products into an existing competitive market. One of the most critical steps in Conjoint analysis application is experimental designs construction. The purpose of an experimental design is to give a rough overall idea as to the shape of the experimental response surface, while only requiring a relatively small number of runs. These designs are expected to be orthogonal and balanced in an ideal case. In practice, though, it is hard to construct optimal designs and thus constructing of near optimal and efficient designs is carried out. There are several ways to quantify the relative efficiency of experimental designs. The choice of measure will determine which types of experimental designs are favoured as well as the algorithms for choosing efficient designs. In this paper it is proposed the algorithm which combines one standard and one non-standard optimality criteria. The computational experiments were made, and results of comparison with algorithm implemented in commercial package SPSS confirm the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

Efficient Experimental Design with Marketing Research Applications

We suggest using D-efficient experimental designs for conjoint and discrete-choice studies, and discuss orthogonal arrays, nonorthogonal designs, relative efficiency, and nonorthogonal design algorithms. We construct designs for a choice study with asymmetry and interactions and for a conjoint study with blocks and aggregate interactions.∗

Constructing experimental designs for discrete-choice experiments: report of the ISPOR Conjoint Analysis Experimental Design Good Research Practices Task Force.

Stated-preference methods are a class of evaluation techniques for studying the preferences of patients and other stakeholders. While these methods span a variety of techniques, conjoint-analysis methods-and particularly discrete-choice experiments (DCEs)-have become the most frequently applied approach in health care in recent years. Experimental design is an important stage in the development...

An Efficient Algorithm for Constructing Optimal Design of Computer Experiments

Metamodeling approach has been widely used due to the high computational cost of using high-fidelity simulations in engineering design. The accuracy of metamodels is directly related to the experimental designs used. Optimal experimental designs have been shown to have good “space filling” and projective properties. However, the high cost in constructing them limits their use. In this paper, a ...

Choosing Optimal Designs for Pair-Wise Metric Conjoint Experiments

This paper presents an approach to the optimal fixed experimental design for pair-wise metric conjoint studies. We first propose a linear model suitable for metric paired comparison conjoint analysis. Following Bayesian decision theory, optimal design problems in pairwise metric conjoint analysis is then formally defined. Given the formal definition of the experimental design problems, algorith...

Profile Construction in Experimental Choice Designs for Mixed Logit Models

A computationally attractive model for the analysis of conjoint choice experiments is the mixed multinomial logit model, a multinomial logit model in which it is assumed that the coefficients follow a (normal) distribution across subjects. This model offers the advantage over the standard multinomial logit model of accommodating heterogeneity in the coefficients of the choice model across subje...
